Position: Health Education Specialist
Duties:
-Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with schools, mental health providers, and community organizations to support student wellness and public health initiatives.
-Maintain databases and records to track behavioral interventions, student progress, and community health education activities.
-Document activities and outcomes including behavior plan implementation, workshops delivered, and number of students/families supported.
-Develop and present health education and promotion programs such as parent training workshops, staff development on behavior management, and student sessions on coping skills and healthy habits.
-Collaborate with health specialists, educators, and civic groups to assess community health and behavioral needs, and establish goals for school and community wellness programs.
-Conduct needs assessments and surveys to identify gaps in behavioral supports, SEL programs, and student/family wellness resources.
-Develop operational plans and policies to achieve objectives in behavioral health, learning facilitation, and health education services.
-Provide program information to the public through newsletters, school bulletins, parent outreach campaigns, and online platforms.
-Develop and maintain wellness and behavior resource libraries for educators, families, and community agencies.
-Design and conduct evaluations to measure the effectiveness of interventions, behavioral supports, and health education programs.
-Prepare and coordinate grant applications to secure funding for behavioral and wellness initiatives in schools and communities.
-Provide guidance to schools and agencies on assessing behavioral and health education needs and delivering effective programs.
-Design and administer training programs for staff, teachers, and families on positive behavior support, classroom management, and wellness strategies.
-Develop educational programs and materials for schools, community agencies, and government partners focused on student wellness, healthy behaviors, and inclusive learning.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Behavioral Science, Sociology, or related field. Twenty-four (24) months of experience as a Health Education Specialist or similar occupation. Requires prior experience in applying Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS); implementing Social-Emotional Learning (CASEL framework) and restorative practices to build regulation, empathy, and decision-making skills; using trauma-informed and culturally responsive strategies to address adverse childhood experiences; and conducting functional behavior assessments (FBA) and using developmental tools (e.g., Zones of Regulation, visual supports) to guide student self-regulation.
Work Location: 2220 E Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Unit 2, Kissimmee, FL 34744. 40hrs/week.
